12N Crawler Tractor Practice Test

Dozers are primarily classified by weight and drawbar pull because these factors significantly influence their capability and performance in various operating conditions. Weight is crucial as it affects stability, traction, and the ability to push or move earth and materials effectively. Heavier dozers generally provide better ground contact, which enhances their ability to work in difficult terrain.

Drawbar pull refers to the force that a dozer can exert to pull or push loads, which is directly related to the machine's weight and design. A higher drawbar pull allows the dozer to tackle larger and heavier materials, making it more effective for specific tasks such as grading, pushing, or ripping through hard soil. Therefore, weight and drawbar pull are the primary determinants of a dozer's performance and suitability for various jobs, distinguishing them from others in the same category.

The other classification factors mentioned might be relevant but do not capture the primary technical specifications that define the capabilities and competitive advantages of dozers in the field.
